*UPDATED FOR 2025* If you’d like to go pumpkin picking near South East London or in Kent then read on because I’ve rounded up the best places to go pumpkin picking a short drive from South East London in 2025. If you’re looking for a fun family day out in October than pumpkin picking is for you! We’ve made pumpkin picking a family tradition every October because it’s an Autumn family activity for us to do in half term that’s fun for the kids and it’s a nice way to celebrate the pumpkin picking season. Visiting a pumpkin picking patch has become really popular in recent years. If it’s your first time or your best time – you’ll find loads of places for pumpkin picking below. Top tips for pumpkin picking with kids!

  • Bring wellies – it’s often muddy in the pumpkin fields
  • Remember to bring your own bags to transport any pumpkins, or you will need to pay for them.
  • Look for firm pumpkins. You want them to last until Halloween.
  • Don’t carry the pumpkin by the stalk. Carrying your pumpkin by the stalk result in a damaged pumpkin.

All of the pumpkin patches I’ve listed are at most, an hour away from South East London in either Surrey, Sussex or Kent.

Hewitt’s Farm

(Hewitts Farm, Court Road (A224) Orpington, Kent)

Pick your own pumpkins is available on Hewitt’s Farm from 1st October, it’s an impressive family farm which boasts 78 acres of land with lots of different varieties of pumpkin. White pumpkins are our favourite pumpkins!  For the pumpkin picking – there is no pre-booking required! There is also plenty of free parking which is a bonus! The Farm also sells a wide range of fresh produce that is sourced either from the farm or other local farms in Kent and surrounding areas, check out their Facebook page and website for what’s on offer. Pumpkin picking opens on 1st October.

Stanhill Farm

(The Farm House, Birchwood Rd, Dartford DA2 7HD)

Great selection of pumpkins and lovely farm shop too. They have two mazes here ( a child’s maze and an adults maze with a prize at the end) but this closes on 24th September so it’s not open during pumpkin season. There is also a cafe with a takeaway service, serving tea, coffee, hot chocolate, cold drinks, toasties, and cakes. A picnic area is available near the cafe. You must pre-book tickets, their pumpkin picking is open from 4th October – 30th October 2025. Pumpkins are priced at £1.00 upwards depending on size or you can buy a wheelbarrow full for £35.00 (as long as you can push it!) Toilets are portaloo style but they do have a baby changing facility too.

Pumpkin Picking in Surrey near South London

Crockford Bridge Farm

Pumpkin picking at Crockford bridge Farm takes place during the first two weeks of October. Pre-booking is required and tickets start from £4.00, various time slots are available during the day. Pre-book your tickets here. During the 3rd weekend in October, the pumpkins are all picked and they have a wonderful selection of picked pumpkins and squashes to buy at their Pumpkin Market (picking does not take place after this time) There is no cost nor tickets needed for the pumpkin market but they also have a brilliant family friendly Pumpkin festival which does require a ticket at an extra cost. Buy your tickets here. The pumpkin festival is a glorious colourful display of quirky pumpkins and arty installations – perfect for photo opportunities and those instagram moments! There are pumpkin decorating competitions, face painting a spooky trail and theatre events and Crockford Bridge Farm is well known for it’s delicious ice cream and this is also open during the festival! Crockford Bridge Family Farm makes a great family day out! The pumpkin festival costs £12 per person and is free for kids aged 1 and under.

Green Barn Farm

(NORTH BENFLEET HALL, ESSEX)

Try Pumpkin Picking at Green Barn Farm – an immersive and popular pumpkin event in Essex! Circus performers, roaming actors and an express Pumpkin Tractor Ride are all included in the ticket price. There’s lots of spooky photo opportunities, a spooky maize maze is also included in your ticket price as well as access to their 25 acres of pumpkin fields, you can even pop along and say ‘hi!’ to friendly cows and goats. There are also extras you can purchase to make a day of it such as face painting and marshmallow toasting! Don’t forget to check out access to the haunted barn for refreshments! Book tickets here!

Garson’s Farm

(GARSONS, WINTERDOWN ROAD, WEST END, ESHER, SURREY  KT10 8LS)

Garson’s Farm has a farm shop and a beautiful Orangery cafe. It’s a family-run farm and for pumpkin picking you will need to buy a farm pass which is £4 and £1 for children. Buy your tickets here. Garsons Farm also have a pumpkin parade and a pumpkin picking village where you can enter a pumpkin village with tunnels and step into the magical world on a parade journey, discovering dazzling displays during pumpkin week. Tickets to the pumpkin parade cost £4 each and are free for under 24 months.

Tulley’s Farm

Tulleys Farm, Turners Hill, Crawley, West Sussex, RH10 4PE

Tulley’s Farm is slightly further out at just over an hour’s drive but it’s a larger pick your own pumpkin farm in West Sussex and has a whole host of extra activities including tractor rides and loads of varieties of pumpkins. Tulleys Pumpkin Farm opens on 5th October 2025 and they have over a million pumpkins and lots of displays and even live roaming dressed up characters and a fancy dress competition. You can also try pumpkin picking by night to find your perfect pumpkin! You can pick pumpkins under the glistening moonlight, experience delicious street food from food trucks or treat yourself to a cocktail or craft beer in our brand new pumpkin bar whilst enjoying live music and hot food.Purchasing tickets are essential and they also have plenty of halloween activities on including a Halloween trail- you can buy them here. There’s a scarefest for old teenagers and adults!

On 17th-31st October 2025, Wasing Estate is hosting its annual ‘Pick Your Own Pumpkins And Woodland Trail’ Event. You can visit Estate’s enchanting woodland trail including a life-size fairytale pumpkin carriage and stunning autumnal views. Nestled in the heart of Berkshire, guests will have the chance to pick their very own pumpkin from the Estate’s organic patch—wheelbarrow in hand!—and enjoy delicious seasonal snacks (crepes, pizza & more) and drinks under their cosy tent. Hatters Farm

Hatter’s Farm is over an hour away from London but it’s a fun packed day out with more than just pumpkin picking! There’s always lots of additional activities from pumpkin cannons to a maize maze or corn maze which our kids loved when we visited and are included in the ticket price. There’s a huge selection of pumpkins to choose from and a wide variety of pretty displays and live actors. They also have pumpkin nights for a more spooky feel so it’s a great place to get ready for Halloween and the spooky season.

Hatter’s Farm daytime pumpkin picking is open from the 5th October 2025 (tickets are onsale from the 30th August). Pumpkin Nights event will be open on the 18th of October 2025. You can buy your tickets here.

Where to pick a pumpkin in Kent

PYO Pumpkins Hoo, Rochester

(Beluncle Farm, Stoke Road, Hoo, ME3 9LU)

If you’re looking for a pumpkin picking photo opportunity, the Riverside Farmers is a great spot, they have a good selection of pumpkins for picking for the whole family and usually have some fun props for photos! Pre-booking is essential and they open on the 11th October 2025. You can book tickets through their website. The patch has grass pathways making our fields accessible to all including those with pushchairs and wheelchairs.

Cammas Hall Farm

Cammas Hall Farm is again further away but it makes a great family day out. There are farm animals and a play area and a maize maze (which you can tackle in the day and the night!) and a whole host of seasonal activities such as Firework night and a really spooky event for Halloween. It opens on the 4th- 31st October. You can try walking down the Terror Tunnel (recommended for 12+ only!) and enjoying the live music whilst exploring the pumpkin patch! Book tickets here!
